Advanced EDID Editor

EDID Editor software

Advanced EDID Editor is an embedded software tool in the Matrix Controller software. This useful program helps system-integrators to solve EDID related issues and overcome incompatibility problems by giving the freedom to control the exact signal parameters. The Advanced EDID Editor software can be used even if you don't have any Lightware device connected. The new version of the Matrix Controller (from v3javascript:mctmp(0);.1.7) can be launched in DEMO mode, which means that a virtual Lightware matrix will be emulated on your PC. This way you have access to all of the features provided by the Matrix Controller.

View EDID: Advanced EDID Editor can translate the binary data into readable english format, which contains every information stored in the EDID data structure and the optional extensions. The report provides a quick and easily understandable overview of all the available settings.

Modify and Create: Edit or create a new EDID. All settings, which are defined in the standards, can be edited on an intuitive user interface. The editing of additional CEA extensions is also supported.

Save and Upload: Save the modified or created EDIDs in different compatible file formats or upload them immediately to a connected Lightware device.

Download: Download EDID, open EDID from file or view the EDID of your display. There are three options to open an EDID: they can be downloaded from the Lightware devices, they can be opened from file and they can be fetched from a display device actually connected to the computer.

Easy EDID Creator: A wizard-like interface (Easy EDID Creator) is also included which makes it possible to create new EDIDs with the most common features just by a few clicks. You only have to specify the desired video and audio format and let the program calculate every other parameter automatically.

Applications: EDID can cause a lot of headache for system integrators, so it's important to understand the main aspects of the EDID data structure. EDID is the abbreviation of Extended Display Identification Data and it is a 128-byte data structure which defines the capabilities of a sink device. If the support for a format is not indicated in the display device's EDID then according to the standard, the source is strictly forbidden to send this type of signal. This is very convenient for the home users (this behavior guarantees the best interoperability between the different devices) but it can make a lot of trouble for system integrators with more sources and sinks at same time.
